Quinn is a character in B: The Beginning.
Personality[]
Quinn is manipulative and bloodthirsty.
Appearance[]
Quinn has dense, curly, red hair and pale teal eyes. He wears the standard Market Maker "uniform" of a white dress shirt, black dress pants, black suit jacket, black gloves, black shoes, and a patterned tie (dark blue, with red-outlined black rectangles). Like his fellow Market Makers, his face is tattooed - in his case, an offset black cross (similar to a german cross) centered over his left eye.
In combat with Koku, Quinn wielded a straight Japanese-styled sword in what appears to be a shikomizue or shirasaya mounting (similar to those used by several other Market Makers). After Koku destroyed this sword with his Lohengrin, Quinn drew a pair of metal spikes out of his sleeves as backup weapons (but never got a chance to use them).
History[]
Quinn is a Reggie working for Market Maker. His history prior to joining the group is unknown.
As part of Market Maker's plans, Quinn was dispatched to steal an experimental IFV, a task for which he recruited Julian Crouse. The pair infiltrated the transport carrying the IFV on the Aqua Line, then used its cannon to shoot their way out of the transport from inside. After a spectacularly violent shooting spree, Quinn activated the IFV's stealth capabilities (deploying a smoke screen and APS, and using the inverter to dampen their thermal signature) to lose the police pursuit as he drove into a tunnel. Inside the tunnel, Quinn and Julian handed the IFV off to Market Maker before "switching rides" to a hijacked cargo train.
Quinn sensed Koku's arrival on top of the train, waiting behind as Julian rushed out to confirm his presence. Their agreement fulfilled, Quinn removed the surplus Reggie from the conversation by way of stabbing him through the brains and dumping his corpse under the car. Quinn then extended an "invitation" to Koku before attacking, charging at the Black-Winged King with a barrage of rapid sword strikes. After about ten seconds of dodging, Koku finished deciding how he felt about Quinn stealing his kill, and took a kick from Quinn to open the distance. Koku transformed into his Black-Winged King form in midair, dropped back to the train, and unsheathed his Lohengrin. Quinn managed to dodge several of Koku's strikes. Within seconds, though, their blades crossed, and Koku's Lohengrin snapped Quinn's katana in half, landing a glancing blow to Quinn's forehead. Quinn fell back to draw backup weapons from his sleeves and charged back into the fray. However, Koku dodged Quinn's attack, leaving him overextended. Koku then counter-attacked by stabbing his Lohengrin upwards through Quinn's face, killing the Reggie instantly.
Koku would subsequently mark Quinn's death by arranging the derailed train cars into the shape of his calling card.
Abilities[]
As a Reggie, Quinn would have possessed superhuman speed and strength, as well as accelerated healing. His abilities appear to be superior to the average discarded Reggie - notably, he was able to sneak up on and disarm Julian Crouse, though that may have had more to do with Julian's deteriorating sanity and situational awareness than anything else - but fell far short of Koku's. Like all Reggies, Quinn was vulnerable to decisive blows from Blue Steel weapons, such as Koku's Lohengrin.
Relationships[]
Julian Crouse:[]
Quinn made contact with Julian after Koku killed Richard and Henry, promising to "arrange a meeting" with Koku for him in exchange for "one teeny, tiny thing." Quinn presumably helped Julian steal the experimental IFV, and drove it around the city while Julian indulged his murderous impulses with its main gun. Once Koku showed up, Quinn gave Julian about 8 seconds of "meeting" before killing him. It is unclear if Quinn actually needed Julian to carry out Market Maker's plans, or if he just thought it would be funny to introduce himself to Koku with a Shaggy Dog joke.
Market Maker:[]
Quinn was a member of Market Maker, and reported to Minatsuki on Koku's arrival. If he worked for Minatsuki out of personal loyalty, it was not returned - Minatsuki ordered the group to abandon Quinn as per "Plan B" immediately upon receiving his report.
Quotes[]
"I can arrange a meeting. If you help me out with one teeny, tiny thing." - Quinn to Julian, demonstrating his ability to simultaneously tell the truth and lie through his teeth
"Julian, I hate to interrupt while you're having fun, but it's time to lose them." - Quinn, ending the chase scene
"Changing rides. The fun is just beginning."
Quinn: "I've been ordered to extend you an invitation."
Koku: "This is a human that I'm allowed to kill. He deserves to die."
Quinn: "Oh, I understand! It's sudden, and now's not a good time for you! So that's why... I'm gonna 'invite' you in my own special way!"
"Hey! What's the matter? Show me your skills! Your power! The real you! Come on!" - Quinn, literally asking for it
"Lohengrin. The black-winged king. He exists. ... He really exists, Minatsuki!" - Quinn, upon seeing Koku's Black-Winged King form
"Don't be in such a rush! Let's enjoy ourselves a little! [Koku snaps his sword off at the hilt and slices his forehead] Oh, wow!" - Quinn, belatedly realizing that he's the guy who gets offed in the first episode to establish power levels
"Still, I just need to make sure you don't hit me!" - Quinn, three seconds before failing to do that
Quinn: "I'll take that arm of yours!"
[Quinn overextends himself, Koku dodges his strike and stabs him through the brain]
Quinn's disintegrating corpse: [unearthly disembodied screaming]
- Quinn's last words

Etymology[]
"Quinn" derived from an Anglicization of the Irish surname "Ó Cuinn," meaning "descendent of Conn." Given Quinn's red hair, this may be an indication that he is of Irish heritage.
Trivia[]
- Quinn's secondary weapons are a pair of retractable spikes (appearing similar to large hypodermic needles) attached to chains, which he draws from his sleeves. Between their appearance and Quinn's line as he attempts to use them ("I'll take that arm of yours!"), they may have been intended as medical tools to steal Koku's powers.
- Quinn's comment upon seeing Koku's Black-Winged King form ("He exists... He really exists, Minatsuki!") may indicate that Koku's status was not common knowledge even among Reggies.
